Paramount studios home entertainment division dominated national DVD sales and rental charts with the release of the animated film Flushed Away from Dream Works and best picture nominee Babel.
"Flushed Away" replaced "The Departed" from the number one spot.
Beuna Vistas $53.1 million film "The Prestige" came in at number two in the box-office, whereas "Babel" was number four. "Man of the Year" starring Robin Williams was ranked number five when it was released on DVD . "Babel" received an Oscar and was also a number one hit at the box-office. The film has generated rental earnings estimated at $8.7 million, this is just over a quarter of its theatrical gross.
"Departed" had rental earnings of $8.6 million also being the most rented DVD in the previous weeks, where as "Prestige" was number three in the box-office and generated $8 million in rentals. The film "Man" was number four and has estimated rental earnings of $6.9 million.
"Little Miss Sunshine" along with "Babel" was also released on DVD and received two Oscars. "Little Miss Sunshine" was up for best picture and moved up four places to number ten.
