The Matrix is coming to HD
Fri, 23 Mar 2007
The legendary and groundbreaking sci-fi film, The Matrix is being launched on HD DVD, according to Warner Home Entertainment.
The company announced they will be launching two 'Matrix' box sets on HD DVD today and on May 22 via the press.
Both releases consist of all three Matrix films, 'The Matrix,' 'Matrix Reloaded' and 'Matrix Revolutions', with extra bonus features.
The ultimate set consists of four double-sided discs with more than 35 hours of bonus material.
Warner Home Entertainment will be charging $99.95 for 'The Complete Matrix Trilogy and $119.95 for 'The Ultimate Matrix Collection.
There are no plans yet to bring out a Blu-ray version of the films. However, Warner is planning to issue a counterpart Blu-ray release later this year.
The delay has been caused by continued production delays with the Blu-ray format's BD-Java interactive environment (which will be required to bring the Matrix box sets' many high-def-exclusive bonus features to life).
