Warner Bros Home Entertainment has announced that Blood Diamond will be released as a two disc special edition which will include 75 minutes of extra material.
The film is set during the 1999 civil war in Sierra Leone and follows an ex-mercenary turned smuggler (Leonardo DiCaprio) who befriends a fisherman (Djimon Hounsou). The men are on two desperate missions – one to get hold of a rare pink diamond of great value and, two saving the fisherman’s son who was captured by a rebel group who are training him to be a child soldier.
The film is directed by Edward Zwick (Glory, The Last Samurai) and is an intense, but moving story.
