Several Oscar contenders are among the new DVD releases.
One such release is "The Departed" has been nominated for five Academy Awards including best picture and best director for Martin Scorsese. The film is a thriller about an undercover cop (Leonardo DiCaprio) in the Boston underworld and an undercover gangster (Matt Damon). Damon’s character has worked his way up into the elite investigative team in the Boston police force.
The film is available in a single-disc or a two-disc set including additional scenes with introductions by Scorsese.
In the film “Half Nelson'' Ryan Gosling earned an Oscar nomination as an inspiring inner-city teacher who has a serious drug problem. The teacher forms an allegiance with a promising student (Shareeka Epps) and coaches the basketball team by day but indulges in a runaway drug habit by night. Epps discovers her teacher's secret while getting deeper into the drug-dealing life that swallowed her brother.
Also available is, "Infamous" (also known as "the other Truman Capote" film), "School for Scoundrels," the documentary "The U.S. vs. John Lennon" and the "90210" spoof "Grosse Pointe: The Complete Series."
