Last movie from Anna Nicole Smith on DVD due in May

Wed, 14 Feb 2007

A sci-fi comedy starring Anna Nicole Smith titled "Illegal Aliens" is due for release this May on DVD . A distributor announced that this was the last movie she made.

Anna Nicole Smith who died last week in Florida plays an alien who changes herself into a hot babe who comes to protect earth, with two others form intergalactic baddies.

Ed Baran, spokesman for the film distributor MTI, described the movie, as a "high camp" creation in which Anna Nicole mocks her own sex-bomb image .

He added that there were no plans for the movie to be released in cinemas.

The directors were not thinking about Oscars when making the 93 minute film. It was shot on location in Vermont, Los Angeles and New York in September 2005.

Anna Nicole scripted her own role for "Illegal Aliens" and invested her own money.

Ed Baran said, "A lot of people really want to make her out to be some idiot but I really don't think that she was. She's poking fun at herself within the film so I think it's pretty damn smart."

The ex-stripper and Playboy model died on Thursday of unidentified causes, she leaves a baby daughter whose paternity is yet to be decided.

Anna Nicole Smith also had her own TV reality series called "The Anna Nicole Smith Show". She also starred in "The Hudsucker Proxy" in 1994 and "Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult."

Ed Baran said, "The timing of the distribution of Smith’s last film was coincidental to her death, with MTI having submitted it to retailers for sale this coming spring about a week and a half before she died."

He also added that Smith had planned to take part in a publicity campaign for the film .
