The HD DVD group announced last week the full list of upcoming releases, with more than 70 new titles expected during the first half of 2007.
The last few months have seen HD DVD sales drop and struggle to beat off competition in the form of Blu-ray, which has been boosted through PS3 sales .
HD DVD has had a difficult time trying to attract more movie studios to the format.
Film titles that were announced included Dreamgirls and the Hitcher, which are both scheduled for release in May, with June and July seeing the arrival of Being John Malkovich, and The Bourne Identity respectively.
But perhaps the most anticipated release is the upcoming Matrix Trilogy, which will be offered in the form of two premium box sets . HD DVD will be the exclusive hi-definition format for The Matrix Trilogy, but only until later in the year when a Blu-ray release will appear on the market.
HD DVD does contain next-generation features for the format that give it a distinct difference over Blu-ray players. However, Sony's Blu-ray format is expected to play catch-up by getting a technolgical overhaul as well, increasing the competition once again.
