Pirates of the Caribbean - Dead Man's Chest has become the fastest-selling UK DVD, says distributor Walt Disney .
The second film in the trilogy starring Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley, went on sale on 20 November and has already sold 1.5million copies nationwide in its first week. If demand for the film continues, three million copies could be sold before Christmas .
The Incredibles, which sold 1.9m copies in nine months last year was another Disney film best-selling DVD.
The company's marketing director Brian Winsor said, "With the film doing so well at the box office we always hoped the DVD would prove popular. It seems as though the appeal of Jack Sparrow and his shipmates goes on."
Dead Man's Chest broke box office records during its cinema run earlier this year, when it became the fastest film to take $300m (£162m) at the North American box office.
It is now the third-highest grossing film of all time, having taken more than $1.003bn (£536m) globally.
In May 2007 the Pirates trilogy films will come to an end when the final film, At Worlds End, hits cinema screens.
