In second place its Borat which took in just under £1.5 million but Sacha Baron Cohen's creation has made £21.2m in a month.
The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause, starring Tim Allen came in at number three with a take of more than £1.2m.
Comedy Tenacious D: The Pick of Destiny opened in fourth place with taking of £922,574 and Jackass Number Two coming straight in at number five.
Bollywood thriller Dhoom 2 entered the UK chart in sixth place.
Falling from third to seventh was 19th century magical thriller The Prestige while Pan's Labyrinth, a dark fantasy set in 1940's Spain, was new at eight.
Down five places at nine was dance-based romantic drama Step Up with horror flick Saw III rounding off the top ten.
Bond will be glancing over his shoulder at the musical penguins of Happy Feet which has outsold Casino Royale in the US and which opens in the UK on 8 December.
